Proudly Display This Fierce Yet Adorable Looking Stratotanker KC-97 Model Airplane

Unbeatable museum quality best describes our handcrafted Stratotanker KC-97. After passing through the hands of master craftsmen, the parts are sanded and primed many times. Talented artists then paint on the intricate details with great accuracy. A final coat of clear lacquer protects the Stratotanker KC-97 model airplane and gives it a glossy finish.

The Stratotanker KC97 model plane comes with a handsome mahogany-based chrome pedestal, and to ensure that it is ready for delivery, it undergoes various stages of quality control before being placed in its box. The Stratotanker KC97 model plane is perfect as an addition to a growing collection or as an exquisite gift to a loved one.

KC-97 Stratotanker History:

The Boeing KC-97 Stratotanker was a strategic tanker aircraft. For many years, it was the backbone of the United States Air Force's tanker fleet until replaced by the KC-135. The KC-97 was an aerial refueling tanker variant of the C-97 Stratofreighter, greatly modified with all the necessary tanks, plumbing and "flying boom".

The USAF began operating the KC-97 in 1950. The KC-97 used piston engines, fueled by aviation gasoline, but it carried jet fuel for its refueling mission. It therefore used independent systems for both types of fuel. While it was an effective tanker, the KC-97's slow speed and low operational altitude complicated refueling operations with jet aircraft.

In 1956, Strategic Air Command began phasing out the KC-97 in favor of the KC-135. KC-97s continued operating with Tactical Air Command, the Air Force Reserves, and Air National Guard units. They were finally retired completely in 1978.
