C-7 Caribou History:
The C-7 Caribou is an STOL (short take-off and landing) transport manufactured by de Havilland Canada.
The C-7 Caribou's maiden flight was on July 30, 1958 and was introduced in 1961. The US Army was impressed with the STOL capabilities and potential of the C-7 Caribou. The US Army purchased 159 C-7 Caribous and it served well as a tactical transport during the Vietnam War. The C-7 Caribou was granted US certification on December 23, 1960. Majority of Caribou production was to be destined exclusively for military operators but a select group of commercial users also became interested for the aircraft's ruggedness and excellent STOL capabilities.
Most of the C-7s have been phased out of the US military, but it was still in use in small numbers as a rugged "bush" aircraft. The primary users and operators of the C-7 were the United States Army and the Royal Australian Air Force. Currently, the Royal Australian Air Force still operates 14 Caribous due to be replaced by 2012.
The C-7 Caribou was an exceptional cargo plane that the Army bought to bridge the gap between its largest helicopters, and the Air Force's C-130. The twin-engine all-weather Caribou could lift nearly 3 tons of supplies or 32 passengers.

These models are made to match the image you see here using blueprints and specs on-hand in our production facility. Production & Delivery time for a Made To Order model is approximately 12-14 weeks.
While the full price will show in the shopping cart and on your receipt, we will only charge your card an initial deposit equal to 50% of the retail price. We will charge the remaining balance once production is complete and your model is prepared for shipping.
