The Hercules C-130H model is widely used by the US Air Force. It has updated avionics, Allison T-56- A-15 turboprop engines, and other improvements. In 1964, first deliveries began and production continued until 1996. An improved version of this model was introduced in 1974. It is employed by US Coast Guard for logistics, homeland security, drug interdiction, illegal migrant patrols, and long range search and rescue.
