Junkers JU-88 History:
With the exception of dog-
fighting, it is difficult to think of any
military duty for which this aircraft
was not adapted. The original
missions were level, and dive-
bombing.
The Junkers Ju 88 is considered
to be one of the most flexible and all-
around aircrafts during the Second
World War. It was designed by Ernst
Zindel. On the Allied forces, the
Mosquito and the Beaufighter were
its counterparts. Like the Mosquito, it
was also a fast bomber. It was very
efficient and useful even though it
was huge and slow. There were 104
prototypes that were made on 60
different versions. A total of 14,676
were built.
The Junkers Ju 88 is an outstanding
fighter aircraft. It is maneuverable,
gentle and easy to fly. It was used
as a night fighter, a torpedo bomber,
a reconnaissance aircraft and more.
In December 21 1936, the Ju 88
V1 prototype made its first flight.
Hermann Goring, the head of the
Luftwaffe, was overjoyed when it
reached 360 mph. Finally, it could
perform the promise of the high
speed bomber (Schnellbomber). Its
counterpart, the Dornier Do 17,
modeled its streamlined fuselage.
They modeled the aircraft with less
defensive guns because they
believed that it can overrun the other
fighter aircrafts.
*Alteration on the design such as change of paint schemes and markings or embodied features on our models occurs at any time. Detachable stand is included with the model which may vary from the photo.
