About Lockheed L-1049 Super G Constellation TWA 

The Lockheed Constellation, affectionately nicknamed the Connie or L-1049, was a four-engine propeller-driven airliner that has been used in both civilian and military service. Military versions were employed by the United States Army Air Forces/Air Force and Navy, and other air forces worldwide. Built from 1943 to 1958, a total of 856 aircraft were produced in four models, all featuring a distinctive triple-tail design and a graceful dolphin-shaped fuselage.

The Constellation started out as a slightly smaller plane with less powerful motors. As new radical engines were developed, it was stretched and modified to accommodate the new motors. These Connies with longer bodies were called Super Constellations.
