About the Marauder B26
Built by Glenn L. Martin Company, the Marauder B26 was medium bomber first introduced in 1941. It first flew on November 25, 1940. It was first used in the Pacific Theater and later in the Mediterranean Theater and in Western Europe. It was primarily used by US Army Air Force (USAAF), US Army Air Corps (USAAC), Royal Air Force (RAF), and South African Air Force. It was faster with better performance than the B-25 Mitchell aircraft. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-2800-43 radial engines, it could reach a maximum speed of 287mph. It was capable of carrying seven crew members. Twelve .50 caliber Browning machine guns and bombs up to 4000 lbs were loaded on the aircraft.
Earlier B-26 Marauder was nicknamed Widowmaker because of its high rate of accidents during takeoff and landings. Once crew members were re-trained and modifications were made, the plane became a whole lot safer. It was distinguished by a USAAF dispatch as ''the chief bombardment weapon on the western front.''
Skillfully carved from the finest grade of wood, the Marauder B26 model airplane is worked to a perfect scale copy of the Marauder B26 aircraft. The design of the wing, the tail and the body of this art piece are carefully carved, mirrored from the actual Marauder B26. To preserve its keen design, a final coat of clear gloss is applied to the entire USAF B-26 Marauder model plane. To completely ensure that Warplanes bring you nothing but the best, our model planes go through various quality control before being placed in its box.
* Alteration on the design such as change of paint schemes and markings or embodied features on our models occurs at any time. Detachable stand is included with the model which may vary from the photo.
