About the USAF Falcon F16
The F-16A is a single seat aircraft incorporating Pratt and Whitney F100-PW-200 turbofan. It was manufactured by General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin.
The F-16A's maiden flight was on December 1976. The first operational F-16A was delivered to the Tactical Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base, Utah on January 1979. In 1991, USAF F-16 multi-role fighters were deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Desert Storm. The aircraft also flew a variety of missions to include suppression of enemy air defense, offensive counter air, defensive counter air, close air support and forward air controller missions and F-16s destroyed radar sites, vehicles, tanks, MiGs and buildings.
The F-16 has been widely employed by the combat forces committed to the Global War on Terrorism, supporting the operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The primary users of the F-16s are the United States Air Force, Turkish Air Force, Israeli Air Force and Egyptian Air Force.
