Unbeatable museum quality best describes our handcrafted model airplanes just like the B-47E Stratojet. After passing through the hands of master craftsmen, the parts are sanded and primed many times. Talented artists then paint on the intricate details with great accuracy. A final coat of clear lacquer protects the aircraft and gives it a glossy finish. Our B-47E Stratojet airplane model exhibits an unmatched quality and intricate design to obtain the exact look of the actual B-47E Stratojet.
B-47E Stratojet History:
Manufactured by Boeing, the B-47 Stratojet was a strategic medium-range bomber that became the foundation of the Air Force's newly created Strategic Air Command and many were adapted for several specialized functions. The Boeing B-47 was the country's first swept-wing multi-engine bomber. It represented a milestone in aviation history and a revolution in aircraft design. Every large jet aircraft today is a descendant of the B-47. The airplane was designed to meet USAAF requirement for a jet bomber and reconnaissance aircraft that could reach Nazi Germany in the event that Great Britain fell.
The first B-47E flew on 30 January 1953. Four “blocks” or “phases” of the B-47E were built, each incorporating refinements on the previous block, and also sometimes featuring production changes within a block. Older blocks were generally brought up to the specifications of later blocks as they were introduced. A total of 1,341 B-47Es were produced. 691 were built by Boeing, 386 were built by Lockheed, and 264 were built by Douglas. Most B-47Bs were rebuilt up to B-47E standards under two consecutive programs, designated HIGH NOON and then EBB TIDE. They were given the designation of “B-47B-II”, though it appears that in practice they were simply called B-47Es.
*Alteration on the design such as change of paint schemes and markings or embodied features on our models occurs at any time. Detachable stand is included with the model which may vary from the photo.
