A5M Claude History:
The Mitsubishi A5M was the world's first monoplane shipboard fighter and the direct ancestor of the famous Mitsubishi A6M 'Zero'. The Mitsubishi A6M was a light-weight carrier-based fighter aircraft employed by the Japanese Navy from 1940 to 1945.
In early 1937, A5M entered service and soon saw pitched aerial battles at the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War and air-to-air battles with the Chinese Air Force's Boeing P-26C Model 281 "Peashooters"; the world's first ever aerial dogfighting and kills between monoplane fighters which are mostly built of metal. The A5M had proven itself to be superior in every encounter. At the beginning of World War II, some A5Ms are still in service. Intelligence sources from the United States believed that the A5M was still the primary Navy fighter. On May 7, 1942, A5M's last combat actions took place at the Battle of the Coral Sea, when two A5Ms and four A6Ms of the Japanese carrier Shoho fought against the US planes that sunk the carrier and most remaining airframes were used for Kamikazee attacks near the end of war. There were 1,094 A5Ms built.

These models are made to match the image you see here using blueprints and specs on-hand in our production facility. Production & Delivery time for a Made To Order model is approximately 12-14 weeks.
While the full price will show in the shopping cart and on your receipt, we will only charge your card an initial deposit equal to 50% of the retail price. We will charge the remaining balance once production is complete and your model is prepared for shipping.
