Laird Super Solution (LC-DW) History:

Laird Super Solution is a racing biplane built by Matty Laird in the 1930s.  Matty Laird, at that time, was already famous in the air racing circuit.

The Laird Super Solution was designed and built for the Cleveland Speed Foundation.  In July 8, 1931, work on the Super Solution began and on August 22, 1931, flight tests began.  The Laird Super solution is a refined and more powerful version of the 1930 "Solution".  The Laird Super Solution has a large radial engine and an extremely faired windshield.  Laird Super Solution was very similar to the Gee Bee, a more famous racer during the period.  Laird Super Solution has an advanced design during that time because of its relatively clean aerodyamic construction and tight engine cowling.
