Rain hampers recovery efforts from Airblue plane crash

Pakistani Jetliner Crash Left No Survivors
Last Wednesday, an Airblue Airbus A321 passenger jet crashed in Islamabad, Pakistan killing all 152 on board.
The plane went down in a wooded area near the Pakistani capital. Imatiaz Elahi, chairman of the Capital Development Authroity in India, said “It is a great tragedy, and I confirm it with pain that there are no survivors.”

CARGO PLANE CRASHED AT SAUDI’S RIYADH AIRPORT
Last Tuesday, a Lufthansa cargo plane crashed at the Saudi capital’s Riyadh airport leaving no major casualties according to the airline and Saudi’s civil aviation authorities.

P-47 Thunderbolt Fighter Bomber History:
The P-47 gradually became the best fighter-bomber of the USAAF. The P-47 was replaced by the P-51 Mustang in the long-range escort role in Europe , but still the P-47 had 3,752 air-to-air kills claimed in over 746,000 sorties of all types, at the cost of 3,499 P-47s to all causes when the war ended. In Europe, the P-47 shot down more German fighters than the P-51 and in 1944, during the first six months, had shot down an approximately 900 of the 1,983.
Postwar, the 56th Fighter Group remained the only unit that still flew the P-47 instead of the P-51, claiming 665.5 air victories and 311 ground kills, costing 128 P-47s. The 56th Fighter Group, despite being the sole remaining P-47 group in the 8th Air Force, remained its top-scoring group in aerial victories throughout the war.
