The Tristar RAF Model Plane comes with a handsome mahogany-based chrome pedestal, and undergoes various stages of quality control before being placed in its box. The Tristar RAF Model Plane is perfect as an addition to a growing collection or as an exquisite gift to a loved one. Each Tristar airplane tanker replica will surely mesmerize aviation enthusiasts and hobbyists for it is truly a work of art that relives their memory of the actual Tristar airplane tanker.
Tristar, RAF History:
The Lockheed TriStar is an air-to-air tanker and transport aircraft converted from the civilian L-1011-500 airliner. The Royal Air Force operates nine TriStars, bought in the immediate aftermath of the Falklands War to boost the long range capability of the RAF in the transport and tanker roles.
The RAF's TriStars have seen service in many conflicts. Two were deployed to King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia during the 1991 Gulf War as tankers, with the rest used for transport between the Persian Gulf and the UK. During the 1999 Kosovo War, four TriStars deployed to Ancona in Italy, again as tankers. For Operation Veritas in Afghanistan, TriStars joined Vickers VC-10s in the AAR role, providing aerial-refueling for US Navy aircraft.
