VC-118 Air Force One (President Truman) History:
The VC-118 is a military variation of the Douglas DC-6. The DC-6 was adpated as the Presidential aircraft and was designated as VC-118.
On July 4, the VC-118 was commissioned into the AAF and it was nicknamed Independence for the President Harry Truman's hometown in Missouri. VC-118's most historic flight occurred when it carried President Truman to Wake Island on October 15, 1950 and conferred with General Douglas MacArthur about the progress in Korean War. In May 1953, the VC-118 retired as a presidential aircraft and it served as a VIP transport in several Air Force organizations. In 1965, the VC-118 was retired for display at the museum and was located on the Presidential Gallery on a secure part of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. In 1977-1978, VC-118 was restored to its former presidential markings and paint scheme, which was somewhat like an eagle.

These models are made to match the image you see here using blueprints and specs on-hand in our production facility. Production & Delivery time for a Made To Order model is approximately 12-14 weeks.
While the full price will show in the shopping cart and on your receipt, we will only charge your card an initial deposit equal to 50% of the retail price. We will charge the remaining balance once production is complete and your model is prepared for shipping.
